Another popular feature of most Gothic cathedrals is the tower, which is usually built into the side of the main building, providing another view of the interior.

When you visit a Gothic cathedral, you are often faced with two distinctly different themes. First, you will find the church itself, decorated with stained glass windows and other religious art, as well as many intricate details that reflect a certain culture. While the exterior of the church may look similar to other cathedrals throughout the world, most of them have a more distinctive, French-influenced style.

Once inside, however, you will find that a Gothic Cathedral has no interior to speak of. Instead, the entire structure is made up of stone, making the walls of the sanctuary almost completely transparent. {though the roof and windows are covered by what looks like stained glass. {though in reality, it is not. It is this covering that allows the people in the church to see each other during worship or prayer without being visible to anyone else in the building.

The types of art that is found in Gothic cathedrals vary widely. While most of the artwork used is very religious in nature, there are also some paintings and sculptures that are creating to display everyday life. In fact, some of these items have become quite valuable because they have been used as family heirlooms. This makes them a sought after souvenir among many collectors of art, making the cathedral's an important place to keep any piece of art that has historical value.
