9 Common Misconceptions About Ancient Roman Architecture | Ancient Roman Architecture

Ancient Roman architecture took on the more traditional language of classical Greek architecture for the needs of ancient Romans, but still was quite different than ancient Greek buildings. The two styles were often considered one body of ancient architecture. Some of these structures have stood as a testament to the beauty and history of the Romans.

The architecture of Rome became known across Europe and eventually the world because of the efforts of a single man. He was named Julius Caesar. He was a native Italian by birth and was able to use the Roman government as his own personal army. The Emperor of Rome had the most powerful army in the world and Caesar's men were some of its best soldiers. Caesar built great monuments and sculptures, made roads, built roads and then razed the entire city to build roads and monuments all over again.

When the Western Roman Empire collapsed, the new rulers of Rome had to start from scratch. They had to rebuild what the previous rulers of Rome had failed to build. It was during the time of the reign of Emperor Domitian that the first major changes to Roman architecture took place. Domitian changed the entire look of Roman architecture from classic to barbarian.

The barbarian period is what is called the Dark Ages of Rome. It was during this time that the very first major barbarian attacks occurred. Most of them were on the eastern coast, but some were on the western coast as well. The barbarian army would eventually overrun the entire Roman Empire and the next thing you know, it was the fifth century before the barbarian period started.

However, in the early seventh century the Renaissance period of Roman architecture began. This was the period when the style of Roman architecture began to transform into something very different than the typical, classical style that it had been known for. The architecture was no longer classic in appearance. The first buildings to be built in this style were the churches and cathedrals. The Roman Empire became known for it's great architects of the time including architects named Michelangelo, Vitruvius, and Janiculum.

This new style of architecture was very unique in nature. It was not what you might consider to be “barbarbaric”. But, the people that lived in the cities were not a barbarian. Rather, they were the wealthy inhabitants of the wealthy cities of Europe. The cities of Italy and Germany were some of the most important cities of this period.

Some of the structures in the early Roman buildings include the Coliseum and the Pantheon. The Coliseum was built in the year 506 AD and is still in use today. The Pantheon is the largest and oldest structure built during the Renaissance period and has been standing since the fifth century. It stands tall and was built by Emperor Diocletian. There are many other historical sites and monuments that can be found in Rome during the Renaissance period as well.

In addition to these architectural remains, the city of Rome was also known for many other types of art. For example, the city of Naples was the home of the famous artist Michelangelo who is still alive today. It is a major tourist destination.

There are many types of architecture that is found in Rome during the Renaissance. The most prominent and well-known structures in the city of Rome at this time are the Vatican City and the Colosseum. These are two places where many famous historical battles took place. There is also the Trevi Fountain, which is one of the most famous fountains in the world. However, one of the most notable structures is the Pantheon.

The Pantheon is the oldest of all the structures in Rome and is considered to be one of the most beautiful works of ancient Roman architecture. The Pantheon was built during the time of Emperor Hadrian and is considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Some of the ancient Roman buildings are even considered to be one of the seven wonders of the world today. This includes the Colosseum in Rome and the Parthenon in Athens.

The Romans were known to have been incredibly creative and innovative in their day. There is no telling how many wonderful buildings they created during the Renaissance period. Today, we can still see many of these buildings in the form of modern day buildings.
